Dearly Departed

In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father's funeral, the Turpin's other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion: Firstborn Ray-Bud drinks himself silly as the funeral bills mount; Junior, the younger son, is juggling financial ruin, a pack of no-neck monster kids, and a wife who suspects him of infidelity in the family car; their spinster sister, Delightful, copes with death as she does life, by devouring junk food; and all the neighbors add more than two cents. Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need, and finally, the funeral.
Auditions will be held Saturday, February 10th from 2:00-5:30 pm, and Sunday, February 11th from 2:00-5:30 at the Palace Education and Performance center 216 W 8th Street Georgetown TX 78626.
Callbacks will be held Monday, February 12th from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at the Palace Playhouse 817 S Austin Ave Georgetown TX 78626. By invitation only. Callbacks will be posted on the Palace website on the auditions page. You will NOT receive an email. They will consist of cold readings from sides from the script.
Auditions will consist of using a prepared monologue please prepare a side provided for you. (Sides) Your monologue doesn't have to be memorized, but it is helpful.
Auditions are scheduled online via the Palace website. You’ll choose a time, fill out the audition form, and then fill out the conflict calendar.

You will receive an email confirming your appointment. If you are unable to attend any of the audition times, please send us an email and we will try to work with you to schedule an alternative time.
Rehearsals: Rehearsals could begin Monday, February 26th. Rehearsals will be held Monday, Wednesday Thursday 7:00-10:00 and Saturday (or Sunday depending on conflicts) 1:00-5:00 pm. Tech rehearsals are typically Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm with a dinner break.
Dearly Departed opens on Friday, March 30th, 2018 and closes Sunday, April 22nd. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Saturday matinees may be added. If so they are also at 2:00 pm.
Background checks: Everyone involved with the production must submit to a background check at the Palace's expense. If you are cast, you'll receive a secure link where you can fill it out. There is no cost to you.
