I'm So Proud of You
by Penfold Theatre Company

May. 03 - May. 14

Based on the best-selling book, this intimate play is the true story of the unlikely friendship between Tim Madigan, a self-described "anonymous guy who wrote stories for a newspaper in Texas," and one of the world's best-known TV celebrities, Fred Rogers, the creator and host of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

After meeting for an interview, Fred encourages Tim to open up about his liffe and consider revealing some of his "essential invisibles," the important things about his life that aren't obvious. Over time, Tim and Fred come to trust and rely on one another, and after Tim reveals his need to feel that someone is proud of him, Fred is quick to assure Tim that he is. Eventually, Fred plays a role in reconciling Tim's relationship with his father, and in offering profound comfort and guidance when Tim's younger brother is facing a life-threatening cancer diagnosis.

Filled with tenderness and humor, I'm Proud of You is an honest depiction of how a compassionate friendship can heal and nurture, and it's a revealing portrait of the genuine loving heart of Fred Rogers.

I'm Proud of You by Tim Madigan and Harry Parker, directed by Steven Pounders
